Hong Kong-listed, pan-Asian life and health insurance firm FWD Group Holdings has made three leadership appointments with David Junius joining as managing director and group CFO, effective July 1 after an initial period for the next few months as deputy group CFO; Alex Wong joining as group chief actuary; and Khun Knattapisit Krutkrongchai ( KK ) joining as CEO, Thailand, effective May 11.
Junius will succeed Sid Sankaran who plans to relocate back to the United States with his family, while Wong replaces Michael van Vuuren who recently took up a new role at another company.
KK will assume his position given the upcoming retirement of David Korunić on June 30, after a career spanning more than 35 years in the industry.
Both Sankaran and Korunić will continue to provide valued counsel to the company as advisers. In this capacity, Sankaran will focus on investment strategy for general account and institutional investor relations.
Junius has almost 30 years of experience, including CFO roles at Pearl Health, Cowbell Cyber and SiriusPoint where he was also chief operating officer. Earlier in his career, Junius held various senior roles at AIG, including corporate treasurer, international CFO for its general insurance business, which spanned 50 countries, and Asia-Pacific CFO, which included the life business in Japan.
Wong brings over 20 years of international life insurance experience to FWD. Most recently, Wong was group chief actuary at HSBC Life where he oversaw actuarial management across operations in Asia, Europe and America, and the global actuarial centre of excellence.
KK is a seasoned insurance executive with almost 30 years of experience, including more than a decade in Thailand, as well as 17 years in Hong Kong. Most recently, KK was CEO of Krungthai-AXA in Thailand. Previously, KK worked at AIA in its Thailand, Hong Kong and Macau business units in senior agency and marketing roles.
